We are appreciating more and more the wonderful work that you did to restore and add greater versatility, sensitivity and fire to the grand William Hill & Son and Norman & Beard organ in Melbourne Town Hall. It is now a truly eclectic instrument of great musical quality.

I haven't really checked out your company for some time. My brother had the fortune of spending a day with your master voicer(Bob Mays?)at St Paul's Cathedral in Akron quite a few years ago. Your craftsmanship is amazing and I didn't realize you had so many larger organs to your credit. The Towne Hall in Melbourne Austraila must have been quite an undertaking. In this day of seemingly endless electronic gadgetry, it is wonderful to see you doing what you are doing and doing it so well. My brother and I don't play but we are pipe organ fanatics and have a musical background and really love your website. Keep up the great work!! Ken Schaeffer(and brother Sam)

Dear friends at Shantz: I was a tour guide at Newark's Magnificent Gothic Revival Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart for approximately twenty years, and during that time I had the good fortune of attending numerious organ concerts and conducting "post concert" tours. That great basilica organ contains 154 ranks and 9,513 pipes, and when their potential was fully exploited, there was no doubting why the organ, and especially, this organ, is referred to as the "King of Instruments. When the current music director, Mr. Miller, who is a man of faith and great dignity and talent plays the instrument, the organ communicates,I am the king of instruments, playing for the KING OF KINGS- Truly Schantz made this organ for the King of Kings, hence its fine tonal quality and excellent construction. Those who are visiting the New York area should visit New Jersey's Landmark Cathedral and attend a Sunday Liturgy and one of the scheduled concerts. Magnificent Organ sounds, great rose windows, a remarkable narthex screen of Indiana lime stone, and great medieval vaulting- What more could one want. Sincerely, Bernard A. Flanagan

Burlington, IL

Visited site looking for info on the upcoming re-installaton at Rockefeller Chapel. Can't hardly wait!!!! I'm sure it will be exciting. Recently heard a recording of a VERY nice Schantz at College Church, Wheaton, IL by Martha Foxgrover. Exquisite. Perfect playing on a perfect organ. And the acoustics didn't hurt anything either. Regards - and sure glad there are still a few REAL organ companies left. Enough of the toasters already.

We have several Schantz organs in this region. Our own was installed in 1964, and has never required any major repairs except re-leathering the console just this year. It holds tune amazingly well, in spite of some serious fluctuations in weather and temperature here at the shores of Lake Erie and the edge of the N/E Ohio snowbelt.

Saturday, September 15, 2007 ---  David K. Blackall

I have never had the privledge to play a Schantz organ but have played others worldwide. I am presently the organist at St. John's Masonic Lodge here in Deland and was subtitute at St. Edward's Episcopal Church at Mount Dora, Florida. I learned about you folks in the American Profile magazine of 9/9/2007.

I read the article in American Profile and just had to visit your website. I think it would be an asset to include actual sound bites of how your organs sound. I'm not sure if I am close to any location with one of your organs to visit. It would certainly be a joy to listen to one being played.

I had never heard of the Schantz Organ until the article in American Profile, September 9-15, 2007, Southeast Edition. I would love to hear a Schantz. I will look for one in my area. Charles A. Steger East Texas

Wednesday, September 12, 2007 ---  Rev. Michael Looman
Colrain, Massachusetts

I saw the article today in the American Profile insert in our local newspaper. If I had not been called to be a pastor, I would be an organist, second generation. One regret I have is not having taken pipe organ lessons as a younger man when a couple in the church I was a member offered to pay for the lessons. Oh well. In my mind, there is only one greater sound to a pipe organ well built and well maintained, and that sound would be the Second Coming.

Very interesting. In the past I have been the organist for the First Church of Christian Science in Batesville, Arkansas. They have a custom build Flentrop built in Zandam, Holland that was installed in 1964. This looks like a magnificient instrument also. I saw the article in the American Profile newspaper supplement on September 10, 2007.

Knoxville, TN

I was in Nashville, TN just recently and had the chance to see your new pipe organ at St. Henry's Church. I had some doubts about the organ being behind a cloth screen, but after seeing it in person, I must say that your company did a wonderful job. The screen does not impede the sound of the instrument at all and the organ sounds very nice in the room. On the whole, I believe this instrument will become a 'pilgrimage organ' for the region. Many thanks for creating such a great work of art!

Thursday, May 31, 2007 ---  Jeff Goodwin
Columbus, Ohio

As a child I was present (1962) when Schantz installed a new pipe organ at Linden Baptist Church. At that time I decided to become an organist. I still remember asking the installers questions about the organ. They were extremely nice and took time to talk with us. Many years later I gave recitals on that organ. It only had 13 ranks but it sounded much larger. Most of that instrument is playing in the sister church Karl Road Baptist. I always remember the first pipe organ that I played. Your company reminds me of what is important. QUALITY! It is something that other organ companies have forgotten.

Milford, PA

Dear Schantz, The Good Shepherd Pipe Organ arrived on April 16, 2007. It was constructed on site by Ron, Don, Chester, Dustin and Jimmy. Magnificent job! We could not be happier. The Schantz Pipe Organ is a credit to a great company, skilled craftsmanship, Orrville and the great State of Ohio. If you are reading this web-site and wondering if you can afford such a marvellous instrument, hesitat no more. Dollar for dollar the Schantz Pipe Organ is a wonderful deal that will repay your trust in the future, in church growth, community spirit and enhancement of worship, many times over. Schantz' word is their bond. They deliver the Organ custom made to suit your church and its needs. We could not be more pleased. Congratulations Schantz, Tim Mann and all the Schantz team. Sincerely, Rev. Bill McGinty. Milford, PA. April 27, 2007.

Tuesday, April 3, 2007 ---  Kate Philbrook
Escondido, California 92025

My husband and I have been to the Westminster Presbyterian Church every day to watch the installation of our organ. The men working on the project are a joy to talk with and to watch at work. We're astounded at the magnitude of the job and at the meticulousness of the work these men do to reconstruct the organ. I plan to find out all I can about your company and the work it does to bring the majesty of organ music to our new sanctuary.

I am a 1955 graduate of Baldwin Wallace College. An Organ major studying under Dr. Farley Hutchins. I have been an Organist for Mentor Methodist Church for 10 years and have played the Painsevile Methodist Church Organ. I love it and the Mentor Methodist instrument. We are also Severance subscribers and been blessed with a tour back of the curtain at Severance and through the organ pipes. You have done an outstanding job in all of these works. Your website was very exciting for me to go through. Carol Haines

Nashville, TN

St. Henry's Catholic Church, Nashville This morning the new Schantz at St. Henry's was featured in a demonstration by Mr. Jeffrey Dexter and recital by local organists Andrew Risinger, Wilma Jensen, and Gerry Senechal. There were many positive comments about the instrument after the program. This organ has a variety of solo colors, along with some warm and soft registers. The ensemble builds nicely into one clean, cohesive whole. Mr. Dexter and the three organists put the organ "through its paces" to the delight of the audience. Congratulations on another fine installation!

As I sat listening to a recording of Thomas Heywood playing on the Schantz organ at the First United Methodist Church in Galveston, I looked at the picture of it and was amazed. The Schantz organ looks as brilliant as it sounds! Thomas will be performing on our relatively humble organ at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church next month. One day I hope to hear and feel a Schantz organ in the flesh! Blessings to you from Down Under!

Tuesday, December 26, 2006 ---  Melvin Potts
Nashville, TN

I noticed Michael Valentine's comment about the Schantz organ at Nashville's 1st Baptist Church. When this organ was being installed in 1970 I spent many an afternoon at the church watching the crew at work. I was present for the dedication service, and the A.G.O. sponsored recital by Catherine Crozier that fall. I have heard the organ numerous times; have also played it several times. Our first A.G.O. meeting of the season was a service of hope and rememberance for 9/11. Gerre Hancock was the guest choir director. He began the service with an improvisations. Dr. Hancock began with the softest voices and built up to full organ..then back down to a whisper again..all very smooth and seamless. This organ still sounds as fine as it did when new. Al Lunsford once mentioned to me that he considered it a model of cohesion and clarity; I know he considered it to be one of his masterpieces.

I was so pleased to read the recent articles in "The Wall Street Journal" and "Beacon Journal"! As a "friend of the family", former resident, and lover of good pipe organ music, I sincerely hope the company enjoys at least another 133 years of success! Merry Christmas to all!

The Schantz Organs are among the finest of insterments arround in this time. I love to play a Schantz Organ. Great Job guys.

Thursday, December 7, 2006 ---  Jack Biancotti
Friedens, PA

Your installation crew, Ken and Mike, just left Friedens Lutheran Church where they completed installation of the new chimes on the Schantz organ that was built for us in 1990. The Chimes have a wonderfully clear, mellow, yet crisp tonal quality. We are so pleased to have been able to have them installed in time for Christmas. The 1990 Schantz still sounds magnificent and is a joy to play. Ken & Mike spotted a few items of routine wear that might have caused some problems later on. They were able to resolve those small problems quickly before they had a chance to become big problems. We appreciate that kind of attention to detail. Jack B.

Saturday, November 25, 2006 ---  Ralph L Camus
New Brighton PA

St. Gregory Catholic Church in Zelienople, PA acquired a 1927 Schantz pipe organ from Grace Church of Akron Ohio. Over the years the pipe work had been upgraded, as well as the chests and mechanisms. A new console was added in 1953. This instrument has three manuals, and came with an "echo" organ, for which we do have the pipes but have not had them installed. I have been a parish musician for over 40 years, and I assure you that this instrument is at the top end of the finest organs I have ever had the pleasure to play. It is crisp, brilliant, and quick, and has inspired the congregation to participate to their fullest week after week. I just wanted to let you folks know that after nearly 80 years of service, (11 years to St. Gregory), this organ still leads and serves as though it were a fraction of its age. Congrats on building such a wonderful product. It is instruments just such as the one at St. Gregory that helps give you the awesome reputation that you enjoy in the industry. Most Sincerely, Ralph L Camus Music Minister St. Gregory R.C. Church Zelienople, PA 16063
